  • 1 qt. milk
  • 4 oz. elbow macaroni
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon rind
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates

Directions

    Scald milk in heavy saucepan; do not boil.

    Add macaroni; simmer, uncovered, stirring frequently until tender.

    Beat eggs; add sugar and beat until thick and lemon colored.

    Remove mixture from heat; stir in egg mixture and remaining ingredients.

    Pour in lightly greased baking dish and bake in a 300° oven for 55 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

    Serve warm or cold.
