  • 1 1/4 cups sugar

  • 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 15 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 2/3 cups coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

    Combine all cake ingredients in mixer bowl.

    Blend 30 seconds on low speed, then 3 min at medium speed.

    Pour batter into greased 9x13 cake pan.

    Combine topping ingredients til coconut is thoroughly coated and carefully spoon over cake batter in pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
