- 1 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 c. rolled oats
Directions

1Combine and beat thoroughly the first 7 ingredients.

2Stir in walnuts, flour and soda (sifted together).

3Blend.

4Add rolled oats and mix well.

5Measure out 1 level tablespoon of dough on greased baking sheet, leaving space between.

6Press with fork. Bake in 350° oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

7Cool 2 minutes before removing from sheet.

8Makes 5 1/2 dozen.
