  • 1/3 bar Baker's chocolate
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cook chocolate bar and 1 cup milk until thick or melted; cool. Beat well sugar, shortening and eggs.

    Add chocolate and 1/2 milk and vanilla.

    Add flour, soda and salt; mix well.

    Bake in greased and floured pan.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until done. If baked in cake pans, makes 3 small or 2 large pans or 10 x 12-inch pan.

    Frost with either chocolate or butter frosting.
