Malted Milk Date Bars

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. malted milk powder (vanilla or chocolate)
  • 1/3 c. oleo
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

    Sift together flour and baking powder.

    Melt oleo in a medium saucepan; add brown sugar.

    Stir in vanilla and eggs.

    Add dry ingredients slowly.

    Add dates and pecans with last of flour and mix thoroughly.

    Bake in well-greased and floured square pan at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

    When cool, cut into squares or bars.
