  • 2 sticks whipped margarine (regular may be substituted)
  • 1/2 c. Crisco vegetable shortening
  • 2 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain cake flour
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 large or 6 medium eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 1 to 2 tsp. coconut flavoring

    Cream margarine and shortening until creamy and smooth.

    Add sugar; cream with margarine and shortening.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.

    Measure dry ingredients; sift together.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.

    Add vanilla and other flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan.

    Bake at 325° until done, approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes.
