- 4 large eggs
- 2 cup milk
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp shortening
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
Directions

1Heat oven to 350 F.

2Beat eggs until frothy.

3Gradually beat in milk, maple syrup, and salt.

4Spread shortening in a thin layer over the bottom of the pie shell.

5Pour custard into the pie shell and place in the center of the oven.

6Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

7Cool pie to room temperature on a wire rack.

8Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.
