  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (28 fl oz) can whole peeled
  • tomatoes (do not drain)
  • 2 (14.5 fl oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 3 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

    1. In a large skillet, saute the onion and garlic in olive oil for about 10 minutes or until golden.

    2. Smash the whole peeled tomatoes with your fingers and add to the pan along with the diced tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
