Martha'S Cabbage Roll Casserole

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. sausage
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped peppers
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 3/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

Directions

    Cook meat, sausage, onion, salt and peppers until browned. Add chili powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, tomatoes, rice and half can of tomato sauce.

    Simmer 10 to 15 minutes.

    Chop head of cabbage and cook in separate pan.

    Layer cabbage and then meat and rice mixture, ending with meat mixture in casserole dish.

    Pour remaining half can of tomato sauce on top.

    Bake in oven at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes, until browned.
