  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 (8 oz.) can almond paste
  • 1 1/3 c. sugar plus additional for sprinkling on cakes
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. sliced almonds

Directions

    Mix flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

    Beat butter and almond paste; beat in sugar until light, then beat in eggs. With mixer on low, add flour and milk, alternating.

    Divide among pans (sprayed with cooking spray).

    Sprinkle with almonds and sugar.

    Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350°.

    Makes 5 (4 1/2 x 2-inch) loaves.
