  • 1 cup of black rice
  • 1/4 cup of minced onion
  • 2 cups of salted chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon of garam masala

Directions

    Rinse the rice 2 or 3 times with cold water.

    Soak the rice for an hour and then drain.

    Heat the oil in a saucepan on medium high heat.

    Saute the onion until it begins to brown.

    Add garlic and garam masala. Saute for 1 minute.

    Add the rice and saute for 2 or 3 minutes.

    Add the stock. Stir, cover, and bring to a full boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer covered for 35 minutes.

    Remove from heat. Let it sit covered for 10 minutes.

    Fluff and serve.
