Ingredients

  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pinch of poultry seasoning

Directions

    Brown sliced onion.

    Mix soup, 1/2 cup water, lemon juice and sugar.

    Add to onions, simmer while making meatballs.

    Mix egg, hamburger, bread crumbs, 1/3 cup water, salt and poultry seasoning.

    Make into small balls.

    Add one at a time to sauce. Simmer 1 to 2 hours, stirring gently, occasionally.

    Sauce will thicken as it cooks.

    I usually prepare three times the recipe. It seems to taste better as it is heated again.

    It makes great leftovers.
