  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.

    Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. After all sugar is added gradually add salt and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks form and all the sugar is dissolved about 5 to 8 minutes. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 300° for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheet. Once cooled, remove and store in airtight container. Yield: 4 dozen.
