  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. sugar

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400°.

    Line an iron skillet (bottom and sides) with raw bacon.

    Combine ingredients and pour into skillet.

    Bake 15 minutes at 400° and then 15 minutes at 450°.

    Pour off any accumulated fat from bacon.
