  • 8 to 10 (10-inch) flour tortillas
  • 1 (16 oz.) can refried beans with sausage
  • 1 (16 oz.) can plain refried beans
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 to 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 to 1 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 pkg. taco seasoning
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • sour cream
  • salsa

Directions

    Brown ground beef and onion in skillet; drain.

    Add tomato sauce and taco seasoning.

    Simmer until thickened.

    In greased 9 x 13-inch pan, place 2 to 3 tortillas to cover bottom of pan.

    Mix together refried beans and 1/4 cup salsa.

    Spread 1/2 of bean mixture over tortillas in pan.

    Top with 1/2 ground beef mixture. Sprinkle 1/2 of both cheeses.

    Add 2 or 3 more tortillas over cheeses.

    Repeat layers.

    Top with more tortillas and sprinkle with more cheese, if desired.

    Bake, covered, at 350° for 30 minutes. Top with sour cream, shredded lettuce, tomato, salsa or additional cheese, if desired.
