Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. dried peas
  • 1 (28 oz.) whole tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. chopped celery
  • 2 lb. sausage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Wash peas.

    Soak in water 2-inches above peas overnight. Brown sausage to crumble.

    Add onion and cook until tender.

    Then drain.

    Drain peas and stir in sausage and other ingredients. Bring to a boil.

    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Add water if needed.
