- 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
- 1 small clove garlic, minced
- 1 c. uncooked rice
- 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Add onion, garlic and rice to hot oil in heavy saucepan.

2Fry about 3 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Stir in a mixture of chili powder and salt.

3Add water; stir. Cover tightly.

4Bring to boiling and simmer until rice is tender, about 25 minutes.

5Makes about 8 servings.
