  • 12 slices bread
  • 12 oz. bulk pork sausage, cooked and drained
  • 3/4 c. (3 oz.) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) shredded pepper cheese
  • 1 1/2 c. sliced zucchini (optional)
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/3 c. green chili salsa or 1/3 c. tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

    Cut centers out of bread.

    Set centers aside.

    Place remaining bread pieces in greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish.

    Layer sausage, cheeses and zucchini.

    Beat eggs, add milk, tomato sauce, salsa and salt.

    Pour over layers.

    Place cut out pieces of bread on top.

    Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

    Bake 55 minutes at 325°, uncovered.

    Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serves 12.
