- 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. hot water
Directions

1Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl.

2Blend at low speed. Then beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.

3Spread into greased 8 x 8-inch pan.

4Shield corners.

5Microwave at 50% for 6 minutes, rotating 1/4 turn every 3 minutes.

6Remove foil.

7Increase power to High.

8Microwave 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, or until done.
