- 3 c. sifted flour
- 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening until mixture resembles corn meal.

3Beat egg and add milk.

4Mix in dry ingredients with fork until dough holds together.

5Turn on a floured board; knead lightly and roll 1-inch thick.

6Cut with biscuit cutter and put on a baking sheet.

7Preheat oven to 450° and bake biscuits 10 to 12 minutes.
