Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean beef
  • 4 lb. apples
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 6 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar

    Cook beef until done.

    Cool.

    Grind.

    Wash, pare, core and grind apples.

    Mix all ingredients.

    Simmer 1 hour.

    Pack hot into jars.

    Process in pints and quarts 20 minutes at 10 pounds pressure or 1 1/2 hours in boiling water bath.

    Also freezes well. I measure ground meat and ground apples by the cup and have double the amount of apples as meat.
