Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef or 3 lbs pork
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 quarts applesauce
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 5 cups grape juice
  • 3 lbs raisins
  • 1 lb currants
  • 3 lemons, juice and zest of
  • 1 cup molasses, plus
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon oleo
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 3 12 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 5 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 12 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 14 teaspoons cloves
  • 4 12 teaspoons brown sugar

Directions

    Cook the meat and 1 tsp salt in the crockpot for 8 hours or until very tender; then grind coarsely.

    Add all other ingredients and cook another 4 hours, seasoning to taste.

    Extra mincemeat can be canned or frozen to store.
