  • 13 cup pinto beans
  • 13 cup great northern beans
  • 13 cup red beans
  • 18 cup red kidney beans
  • 18 cup white beans
  • 1 tablespoon black beans
  • 1/4 cup chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • 1 tablespoon black-eyed peas
  • 2 tablespoons split peas
  • 13 cup lentils

Directions

    Place in large pan, cover with water, soak, rinse well, then add 2 quarts water and meat if you want.

    Simmer slowly 2 1/2 hours.

    Add vegetables.

    Simmer another hour or until done.

    Before serving, add 1/2 cup red wine; 1/2 cup chopped parsley.
