- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup shortening, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 10 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Directions

1Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt; add milk, shortening, and egg, mixing well. Stir in bacon.

2Pour batter into a well-greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 425° for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares, and serve with Creole Celery Sauce.
