  • 1/2 c. other shortening
  • 2 c. sugar (substitute 3/4 c. molasses for 1 c. sugar)
  • 1 c. blackberry jam
  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1 c. raisins

    oven to 350°. Cream together butter, shortening and sugar and add molasses and jam.
