- 3/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 4 1/2 c. sifted flour (more or less)
Directions

1In saucepan, add 1/2 cup water and shortenings until melted. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

2Add to fat mixture with milk and molasses.

3Stir in salt and soda; beat in gradually enough flour to make soft dough.

4Let rise until doubled.

5Shape into 24 balls and put into two greased 9-inch round pans.

6Let rise until doubled.

7Brush with a little molasses. Bake at 425° about 20 minutes.

8Makes 2 dozen.
