Mom's Spaghetti Bake

Ingredients

  • 1 12 lbs ground beef or 1 12 lbs ground turkey
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms
  • 14 cup sugar
  • 1 12 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 8 ounces cooked drained spaghetti
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 cup grated parmesan cheese

    Preheat oven 375F.

    In large pot, cook ground beef, chopped onion and garlic.

    Drain off fat.

    Stir in undrained tomatoes, sauce, mushrooms, sugar, oregano, salt and basil.

    Bring to a gentle boil uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Remove from heat; stir in spaghetti.

    Place 1/2 of mixture in 13x9 baking dish; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

    Top with remaining mixture and sprinkle with parmesan cheese -- and use any extra mozzarella cheese if desire.

    Bake for 30 minutes.
