- 1 c. potato water
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. water
- 6 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 2 sticks oleo, melted
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Add salt to potato water. Cream sugar and shortening.

3Mix alternately the flour, milk, potato water, yeast and sugar mixture. This should be a stiff dough. Stir.

4Let rise until doubled in size.

5Knead well. Roll into 1/4-inch thickness. Cut in strips.

6Dip each piece in melted butter. Drop helter skelter in tube pan.

7Let rise until doubled. Bake at 375° for 1 hour.

8Turn upside down on plate.
