- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 5 1/2 to 6 c. plain flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in water.

2Scald milk and add sugar and shortening.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Add about 2 cups flour and beat thoroughly.

5Add eggs and yeast; beat thoroughly.

6Add rest of flour to make a soft dough.

7Knead on a floured board until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).

8Let rise until doubled.

9Cut out in desired shapes and let rise until doubled again.

10Bake at 425° until browned.
