  • 2 Tbsp. butter, margarine or olive oil
  • 1 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck or lamb
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. dried bread crumbs

Directions

    In large pan melt butter, saute chuck, garlic and onions, stirring until brown.

    Add herbs, spices and tomato sauce; bring to boiling, stirring.

    Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 1/2 hour. Stir in bread crumbs when ready to assemble.
