Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water (not hot)
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded
- 2 heaping Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- about 4 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water in large mixing bowl.

2Set aside. Scald milk.

3While it is still hot, add shortening, sugar and salt. Stir until dissolved and cool to lukewarm.

4Mix with yeast mixture, egg and enough flour to beat with heavy spoon or dough hook in mixer.

5Beat well and add remaining flour to knead.

6Knead well and put into greased bowl to rise until doubled in bulk.

7Make into rolls and place in greased baking dish, rolling each roll lightly in shortening to keep them from sticking together.

8Let rise until double again.

9Bake at 375° for about 25 minutes.
