- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 2 c. pickling lime
- 2 gal. cold water
- 5 lb. sugar
- 2 qt. Twelve Oaks white vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. pickling spices
- 1 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Wash cucumbers and slice.

2Put in large enamel pot and add pickling lime and cold water.

3Soak for 24 hours.

4Drain and wash all remaining lime from pickles.

5Soak for 3 hours in ice water. Drain good and then add sugar, vinegar, salt and celery seed.

6Tie up pickling spices and cloves or use a tea bag holder.

7(This prevents them from being next to the pickles, which causes discoloration.)

8Soak overnight.

9Bring to a boil and cook for 30 minutes.

10Put in warm jars and seal.
