Mushroom Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh mushrooms
  • 6 slices bread, buttered and cubed
  • 1/2 c. grated cheese
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. celery
  • 1/2 c. green pepper
  • 1/2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    Mix the onion, celery, green pepper and mayonnaise.

    Mix eggs, milk, salt and pepper.

    Saute mushrooms lightly.

    Layer bread, mushrooms and onion mixture in baking dish.

    Pour over all the milk/egg mixture.

    Add 1 can mushroom soup just before baking. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs on top and bake at 325° for 50 minutes, uncovered.

    Sprinkle with grated cheese and continue baking for 10 minutes.
