Ingredients

  • 2 c. pitted dates, cut up
  • 1 1/2 c. strong hot coffee
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 extra large egg or 2 medium eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cram of tartar
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
