- 2 c. pitted dates, cut up
- 1 1/2 c. strong hot coffee
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3/4 c. dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 extra large egg or 2 medium eggs
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cram of tartar
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
