Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening or oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1 overflowing tsp. vanilla

    Have all ingredients at room temperature.

    Cream sugar, butter and shortening.

    Beat in eggs one at a time.

    Add flour, salt and baking powder, alternately with milk, lemon extract and vanilla.

    Beat well.

    Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

    Cool for 15 minutes in pan.

    Turn out on rack to finish cooling.
