  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion
  • 2 garlic: minced
  • 24 ounces pasta sauce
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 15 ounces ricotta
  • 16 ounces cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound mozzarella: shredded
  • 4 ounces parmesan: shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

    Cook beef and sausage; Drain. Cook onion, garlic and red pepper flakes. Return meat to pot. Add sauces, paste and water. Add spices minus 1/4 teaspoon salt. Simmer.

    Mix ricotta, cottage cheese, egg and rest salt.

    Put a little sauce on bottom of 2 casserole dishes. Layer with noodles, cheese mix, sauce mozzarella 2 times. Top last layer with parmesan. Spray foil and top. Bake covered 25 minutes. Bake uncovered 25 minutes.
