Navy Bean Soup

  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. dried navy beans
  • meaty ham bone
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 c. celery, diced (optional)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (10 oz.) can condensed tomato soup

Directions

    Soak beans overnight and drain off water.

    Fill Dutch oven 1/2 full with water.

    Add ham bone, beans, onions, celery and seasonings.
  4. 4
    Simmer for at least 4 hours. Remove ham bone. Cut up ham and return to soup. Continue to simmer.

    After it has thickened, add tomato soup and water to desired consistency.
