  • 2 to 3 lb. stew beef
  • flour
  • oil or shortening
  • 3 stalks celery, sliced
  • 4 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 to 3 medium onions, quartered
  • 3 large potatoes, cubed
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. tomato juice
