Ingredients

  • 2 to 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Mix 3/4 cup flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast.

    Heat milk, water and butter until liquids are very warm (120° to 130°). Butter need not melt.

    Gradually add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed of mixer.

    Add 1/4 cup flour.

    Beat at high speed 2 minutes.

    Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.

    On floured board, knead 2 to 3 minutes until smooth.
