- 1/2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. hot milk
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Mix yeast and lukewarm water; set aside.

2Put shortening, sugar and salt into bowl.

3Add hot milk.

4Stir until shortening is melted.

5Beat egg and add it to yeast mixture, stir.

6Add 1 1/2 cups flour, stir; add 1 cup flour, stir.

7Add 1 more cup flour and stir.

8Grease hands; pinch off dough a little larger than an egg, work until rounded.

9Put in baking pan, grease tops and let rise until double in bulk (about 1 1/2 hours).

10Bake at 425° for 15 to 20 minutes.
