- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 3 c. diced apples
- 1/4 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well.

2Mix dry ingredients and sift.

3Add to creamed mixture.

4Stir in diced apples, nuts and vanilla.

5Pour into greased and floured oblong cake pan.

6Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.

7Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.
