- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups shortening
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 2 cups bran flakes
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

2Add soda to boiling water and let stand until cool.

3Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, bran flakes, rolled oats and sugar.

4Cut in shortening; add water and soda.

5Roll out thin on a floured board.

6Cut into 3 inch rounds.

7Bake in hot oven until golden brown.
