  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs; beat well.

    Add alternately sifted dry ingredients with buttermilk.

    Fold in nuts.

    Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans.

    Bake at 350° until toothpick comes out clean, about 30 to 35 minutes.
