- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 2 1/2 tsp. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 1/2 c. flour (about)
Directions

1Scald milk and pour over oats.

2Add sugars, salt, shortening and molasses.

3Let stand until lukewarm.

4Dissolve yeast in water with 1/2 teaspoon sugar and add to first ingredients.

5Add enough flour to make a smooth, elastic dough.

6Let rise once.

7Put in greased bread pans.

8Bake at 350° to 400° approximately 15 minutes until done, large loaves take a little longer.
