Ingredients
- 4 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 2 c. cold water
- 1/2 c. margarine (shortening)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 5 tsp. salt
- 12 to 13 c. flour
- 5 c. oatmeal (the old fashioned gives more grain texture)
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water.

2Combine milk and cold water and heat.

3Pour hot liquid over margarine, sugar and salt; stir until dissolved.

4Cool to lukewarm.

5Stir in some flour and oats.

6Add yeast.

7Add more flour and oats to make soft dough form ball.

8Cover, let rise in warm place about 1 hour (double in size).

9Punch down.

10Place on floured board; cut into loaves or rolls.

11Put in pans.

12Let rise.

13Bake in preheated oven at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes.

14Remove from baking pans.

15Place on rack to cool, butter top while hot.
