- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. rolled oats (regular or quick)
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 4 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Put boiling water and oats in large mixing bowl.

2Stir thoroughly and let stand 1 hour.

3Add molasses, salt and butter. Put warm water and yeast into small bowl.

4When yeast is dissolved, add to the oatmeal mixture.

5Stir in flour.

6Beat thoroughly and let rise until double in bulk.

7Add enough more flour to make the dough just firm enough to knead.

8Shape into 2 loaves and put in greased pans.

9Let rise until almost double. Bake about 50 minutes at 350°.
