Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. scalded milk
  • 2 c. rolled oats
  • 2/3 c. butter or Crisco
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. light brown sugar
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Mix milk, oats, butter, salt and brown sugar.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Combine yeast and water. Stir in oat mixture.

    Mix with eggs and flour and let stand 1 hour.

    Punch down.

    Divide in 2 loaves.

    Let rise 1 hour.

    Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
