Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 2 eggs
- 5 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Stir together in mixing bowl the rolled oats, boiling water, shortening, molasses and salt.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Combine, stirring to dissolve, the yeast and 1/2 cup warm water.

4Stir into lukewarm oatmeal mixture.

5Mix well.

6Add eggs and flour.

7Mix thoroughly; cover and let stand 15 minutes.

8Place dough in 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans and pat into loaf shape.

9Let rise in warm place until double (1 1/2 hours).

10Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
