  • 1 1/4 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Combine water, oatmeal and Crisco.

    Mix eggs, sugars and vanilla.

    Add to the oatmeal mixture.

    Mix the remaining ingredients by sifting.

    Add to the other mixture.

    Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan, greased and floured.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Spread with the topping while still hot.
