  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. oats
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

    Pour boiling water over oats and let stand 20 minutes.

    Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs.

    Sift together dry ingredients and add to oatmeal mixture.

    Beat well.

    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.
